UEMS 1958-2008 – A celebratory Anniversary Conference Announcement
The European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) is proud to announce the commemoration of its 50th Anniversary which is due to take place next year. On this occasion, celebratory events will be organised in Brussels from 17th to
19th of April 2008 with, among others, a Scientific Conference, followed by a Gala Dinner.
This Conference will focus on:
“How to build on solid foundation to improve
Specialist Healthcare for European citizens ?”

This Conference will attract participants coming from the UEMS constituent bodies, i.e. National Member Associations (35) and Specialist Sections and Boards (37); European Scientific and Medical Societies; as well as Members of the European Parliament; European Commission Officials; other EU stakeholders; but also eminent individual medical doctors from all over Europe and beyond.
The issues which will be dealt with by the guest speakers will notably include the following topics: • Postgraduate Medical Training; • Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Continuing Professional Development (CPD); • Quality Assurance in medical specialist practice. The proposed programme aims to give an overview of the UEMS past, current and future activities in these different areas of interest to the medical profession as well as to pave the way to the UEMS role on the European scene for the decades to come.
