Dear colleagues,

It is our great privilege and pleasure to invite you to one of the worlds most attractive city, Vienna (Austria), for the 2nd International Congress on ADHD to be held from 21-24 May 2009. The charm of this city rich in history and culture, the famous “Viennese School of Medicine” and many extraordinary hot spots will make the congress in the heart of the city a spectacular event. This congress follows the 1st Congress in Würzburg that was a big success and step forward gathering outstanding scientists on ADHD from all five continents with more than 1.600 attendees from 68 countries will be the most important highlight of our World Federation of ADHD.

An excellent collection of scientific sessions was prepared based on suggestions of the members of the international Scientific Program Committee: interactive educational seminars, plenary lectures with rewarded experts, hot topic symposia, a video session, workshops and guided poster tours. Young scientists are especially encouraged to present their recent finding in Young Scientist Sessionsand thus benefit from the congress. The 2nd International Congress on ADHD will promote our understanding of ADHD as a multidimensional developmental psychopathology, as a disorder of the lifespan with a complex etiology. The topics of the congress include all the aspects of neurobiological, psychological, and social correlates of ADHD, transcultural and gender influences as well as age dependent comorbidity. Presentations will be given to psychotherapeutic and psychopharmacological topics, discuss results in respect to treatment efficiency, effectivity and the aspects of quality of life. The congress will focus on five main topics bridging the gaps between:

  1. Our scientific and clinical knowledge on ADHD from its beginning in childhood, through its continuity in adolescence and persistence into adulthood; the developmental lifespan perspective will be again one of the most outstanding pillars of the scientific congress program; the fast growing scientific and clinical knowledge of ADHD in adulthood will be an outstanding topic.

  2. Our knowledge about the most evident psychopathological behavioural symptoms, the features of associated brain structures, brain metabolism and brain function, associated biological and psychological endophenotypes of the human body in general and their interaction with genetic and environmental correlates considered from a developmental perspective.

  3. The vast majority of research objectives , methods and disciplines: Child and Adolescent Psychiatry,Adult Psychiatry in cooperation with other clinical and basic research disciplines such as epidemiology, statistics, brain imaging, neurochemistry, physiology, psychology, psychotherapy, neuropsycho-pharmacology and developmental genetics.

  4. The different transcultural understanding of ADHD , its comorbidities and the gender specifics.

  5. Psychotherapy and psychopharmacology.

Come and enjoy the congress and the city of Vienna to combine hard working with social and cultural highlights, meeting colleagues and strengthening collaboration and friendship. But most of all, don´t miss an unique opportunity to share the science that is the driving force of the World Federation of ADHD and our profession.

Sincerly yours,
